I sit on the road and repair foot wear, and withstand all kinds of weather...but my family gets a shelter in return

"I sit on the road and repair foot wear, and withstand all kinds of weather...but my family gets a shelter in return. Being a single mother of three and no other means to survive, I became a cobbler. I don't even remember when I started. 25-30 years back, is my guess. In all these years, I struggled hard to keep my head above water. But, I am happy that I managed to give my three daughters a decent education and got two of them married. I always wanted my daughters pursue other jobs and interests. I am glad that they are doing it now. Not that there is anything wrong or below one's dignity to mend other's footwear. Any profession that allows us to earn an honest living is good enough for me. Just that, when I began on this path, I was cornered and had no choice. Speaking of my choice, after a few years into my profession, I did try to set up my own shop and improve my business. It proved to be an uphill task and I gave up. Much later, I came to know about a Chiranjeevi's movie in which he becomes a big business owner from a road side shop, just like mine. He receives timely help from an elderly person and there’s no looking back for him. It feels good to hear and see such stories in movies. But a question does come to my mind every time I see a customer driving a hard bargain. Would this same guy be paying good money to watch movies where people like me succeed? And, it invariably brings a smile to my lips". #Hyderabad #HumansOfHyderabad
