“I always wanted to serve the country. So I joined the police force. I was appointed as a sub-inspector in the excise department in Bhongir. I was one of the few who led the Haritha Haram projects in the district headquarters. It was a regular day when I was getting ready to leave home for office that I suddenly had an attack and fell down. I don’t remember anything that happened after that. When I woke up, I was in a hospital and they said, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. My family was shattered. I was too, I had to take a break from my job and start treatment immediately. I put all the strength in me together and got one surgery done. But unfortunately, they said I have swelling inside and that needs to be treated too.
Ever since the treatment started, I haven’t been able to get back on duty. I miss my work the most. I’m not used to sitting in a wheelchair and having nothing much to do. I was a busy man. Even if there wasn’t much work, I used to find some task to do. I always regretted not being able to spend time with family because for me work came first. Now that I’m away from that, I’m getting to revive my bond with my wife. It’s been a tough ride and we know we have a lot more in store, but life doesn’t let you choose good and bad. All that you can choose is how to deal with it. ”
