“Barely any people stop by anymore and the ones that do expect me to accept 500 rupee notes. We survive on what I make each day and I make one tenth of what I used to. That is not even enough money for one meal for the entire family. I got desperate and took out money from the emergency savings and went to the bank to exchange that 1000 rupee note but even that didn’t do any good. There is a kilometre long line outside every bank. I spent two days in those lines and on both the days by the time I got close to the entrance, they said they were done for the day. I went back completely empty handed. I couldn’t even make the little amount we were surviving with cause I spent the time I’d spend selling, at the bank instead.”
