“Our forefathers came to Hyderabad from Haryana more than 130 years ago. They arrived with a handful of traditional recipes and a wish to share their hometown flavours in a new city. They opened a small shop in Laad Bazar and that is how Haryana Mithai Ghar began.
From then till today, we have stayed true to the same simple sweets and snacks our family started with. One dish that has become part of our identity is the Ghee Puri Sabji, lovingly called Balveer Ji Puri. The puris are fried in pure ghee till they turn crisp and golden and they are served with a comforting aloo sabji.

People tell us they have been eating it since childhood and now they come back with their kids for the same plate.
Another favourite is our Malai Kalakand. Its slow-cooked, grainy texture is something many regulars remember from their younger days. We often hear, ‘I used to come here after school… now my children are doing the same.’ Along with these, we prepare gulab jamun, barfi, gajar ka halwa, samosa and kachori, all made fresh every single day.
What has kept us going for all these generations is the love from Hyderabad. This shop is more than a place to buy sweets; it is a part of people’s family memories. Customers often share how their parents or grandparents brought them here after visiting Charminar and today they are keeping that tradition alive with their own families.
That connection means everything to us.”
