“I didn’t start baking to become an entrepreneur. I started because I wanted desserts made with ingredients I could truly trust.
I’m a software engineer by profession, and baking entered my life only a few years ago. Around three to four years back, I became more mindful of what went into my food. When it came to desserts, the options that matched my preferences were limited in Hyderabad, and that stayed with me.
About two years ago, I began baking at home, initially just for myself. I wanted cookies, cakes, and brownies made with clean, simple ingredients. What started as personal experimentation slowly grew into Alt Baking Co.—not from a business plan, but from passion.
Today, Alt Baking Co. is a completely gluten-free, vegan, and refined sugar–free brand. I use millet and nut flours, coconut sugar and jaggery instead of white sugar, and only cold-pressed coconut oil or olive oil. There are no preservatives, additives, or seed oils. Every product is made to be honest, wholesome, and thoughtfully prepared.
I didn’t take any professional baking courses. I taught myself by going through articles, books, online reading, and constant experimentation. Every recipe I use today is my own, developed through patience and learning.
I’m originally from Andhra Pradesh, grew up in Odisha, and moved to Hyderabad seven to eight years ago for my software career. Baking grew alongside my job, during whatever free time I could find. My family supported me from the beginning, and that encouragement mattered.
What motivates me most is customer response. Many eat regular desserts, yet return simply for the taste. At the Hyderabad Literature Festival, on all three days, we were almost sold out. That reassured me that when food is made with intention, it connects.
I currently take orders through Instagram and WhatsApp, choosing to grow slowly because consistency matters more than speed. This journey has taught me that courage isn’t about having no fear—it’s about moving forward and trusting your passion enough to begin.”
