“I remember the mountains vividly. The idea of a person placing their complete trust in you to catch them when they fall is something that stuck with me. It was something that helped me shape my relationships as well.
I grew up in a small countryside in Munich. It’s known for its tourist spots loaded with ancient buildings. I have two brothers and a sister. I’m definitely the weird one of the lot, the one who didn’t want to stay home but travel the whole wide world. It all started with the mountains where I’d often go skiing and trekking. I went to Malaysia on an exchange program for a year and ever since, I’ve not stopped moving around. The travel bug had nestled itself wholly.
Italy is a country which makes me feel nostalgic. Ever since I was a kid, my family and I would go to Italy for every festival, birthday and occasion. It is a country that is close to my heart. My current job allows me to travel a lot. The best part about visiting new cities and countries is that you get a taste of their authenticity through their food and the people never fail to intrigue you. You meet people from all cultures around the world. You tend to learn their ways of life and it never is anything less than fascinating.
I have a love for languages. Fortunately for me, I’ve had a knack of picking up languages quickly. ‘Thoda, thoda Hindi baat kar sakta hun’. There was a time I considered becoming a translator. Currently, I’m developing a research project on the LGBTQIA+ community. Not activism, but the ways of life and livelihood in Hyderabad. This city has always caught my attention. The food, the ambience, the vibe and the people, they are all one of a kind. My favourite food is pappu, ghee and ginger pickle.
Travelling taught me that the home I wanted to get away from, is now the one place I miss the most. Most importantly, It taught me things about myself and how to be better.
I am who I am because of it.”
