“When I came home after my three-month baking course from Pune, I baked a butterscotch cake for the family. It was one of the trials I was doing. Once it was done, my dad didn’t want to eat for free. He wanted to be my first customer, so he paid for it, even before tasting it. That’s the kind of recognition and support I have at home, which is one of the reasons why I could leave a well-paid MNC job to take up baking.

As a child, I would watch videos of MasterChefs baking pastries and brownies. I loved it and for long I thought it was only for my satisfaction. Everybody loves watching these videos! It was only during my stint with the MNC when I realised that a corporate job didn’t make me happy. I took a 20-day leave and went to Pune to learn basics of baking. Once I was back, I started taking orders from close friends and family, while continuing to work. It was a difficult time because I would travel for 2 hours to reach home and then bake in the night. Although it was tiring, it made me extremely happy. I quit the job and started Yours Cakely, two years ago. It was a big decision to make but I had some well-wishers who told me that I should follow my passion. Once I started investing my time in baking, I began to love everything! Of course, things don’t always go as planned but that’s how life is. It’s about being hopeful and giving your best.

Even today, every time I bake, I wait eagerly to open the oven and see what the cake looks like. But I’ve learnt to be patient – it’s something my grandmothers taught me. They would cook using wood-fire for hours and I would watch them be patient and calm. Good food takes time. But it’s worth the wait!”
