“It was a dream come true for my father to see me involve myself in politics. To be honest, I don’t think he ever thought I’d even be able to get a party ticket at the age of 21. I’ve grown up watching him help the underprivileged for a better education and livelihood. He stood up for public issues, and dedicated his life to the welfare of the people. But unfortunately, he wasn’t able to get a party ticket despite being in public service for the last 25 years.
To fulfill his wish of making an impact, I’ve decided to contest in the upcoming GHMC elections from Gautham Nagar. We’ve had issues with water, roads and sewage for many years now- to the extent that some people have to walk almost 2kms to fetch water! I consider it to be a huge honour to be able to serve my people, I even quit a job in an MNC purely to be involved in social work and service.
Thankfully, today’s youth is a lot more aware about politics and governance, but there is still a massive underrepresentation of women. I genuinely wish to see more young women get involved in politics so we have equal representation. It is very easy to discuss and talk about, but we need to actually take a step forward!”
