“In the current world of ‘chicken dinners’ and ‘PokemonGo’, I’ve always felt out of place being a 90’s kid. With all the digitalization now, there is no direct human relationship- where’s all the Chuppam Chupai, Kho-Kho, Gilli Danda, and all of the ‘galli sports’? They were definitely superior in every aspect!
Being an optimist, I decided to try and bring an aspect of the old days back, and group cycling was one of my best solutions! Cycling has always been my go-to sport. However, growing up in eastern Hyderabad, I’d always been constrained by the decentralized development of the city. But it’s never too late, and this was one of my driving factors in starting up #LifeCycleChapter with a group of like-minded individuals. We are predominantly youth-focused and hence we call it the Youth Bicycling Chapter.
The Covid-19 debacle has taught us a daunting lesson about the importance of having a well-built immune system. Every morning, the session did wonders for my mental and physical health, releasing bursts of endorphins, leaving me feeling great and stress-free! Efficiency, affordability, accessibility, and the sustainability of cycling are only some of the reasons to take up this sport!
We started off with only a couple of us, but we’re here today completing our 60 consistent days and the completion of the mega cyclothon with over 120 bicycles in the east of Hyderabad! Adding a hint of charity with the sponsored amount brought us immense joy and satisfaction, and we intend to continue donating from our events. Our group has been actively involved in lake clean ups as well, and I’m pretty sure the activities this group does together will go a long way in keeping us connected to our roots and reminiscing the good old days.”
