“Born and brought up in a small village in Jharkhand, I didn’t have any big dreams in life. All I did was support my mother in her daily chores. My father suffered from a major health complication when I was young and was bedridden. Things got worse when I lost my grandmother just after few months of my dad’s illness and I had to start working at an early age. My grandmother was tremendous support for the family and all of a sudden, we had no one to rely upon. My mom used to work in the fields to support us but that wasn’t enough to sustain our family of four. At that time, I decided to do something big in life to get my family out of this crisis. Fortunately, one of my cousins who used to work in Hyderabad asked me to join him for work. Without a second thought, I went ahead considering the opportunities the city offers for new people.
Initially, I did struggle to survive in a big city like Hyderabad but soon I got a stable job at a Tibbs Frankie outlet. Today it’s been close to six years since I left my hometown and I am glad that I could survive the storm. initially, I didn’t know much about making Frankies, but over time, I learned everything from my colleagues. Today, I’m proud that I’m able to do something useful that lets me help my family.
As long as they are doing well, I will be happy anywhere so I only focus on my work. If I were given leave for a few days, I would like to spend time with my mom and my younger brother who’s now pursuing Engineering. It’s been more than eight months since I met any of them because of the pandemic situation and I know I won’t be able to meet them anytime soon either. But the fact that they sleep peacefully without starving every day makes my wait more bearable! My ambition is to return to my hometown and start my own food business someday. I hope that day comes soon!”
