“I remember when I was asked what I wish to become in life. My immediate response was I want to be a mom. Later on, I said I wanted to become a teacher and then an engineer. But one thing that stuck with me through the various wishes I had for myself was art. As a kid, I loved art. It was a blissful feeling that often made my heart smile. I was inclined towards reading as well. I have been an avid reader all through my childhood.

After completing my engineering, I chose to go to the US and pursue my MS. As time passed by, I realized I am good at my work but having said that, I did not have the spark in me to excel in the same. It felt as though I was missing out on something more in my life. That is when art entered my life once again, but this time it was through a YouTube channel.

It was when I was pregnant with my first daughter that I was introduced to the world of influencers. While my brain was flooded with ideas, I was also not sure how I would connect with my viewers. With this tiny block in my head, I procrastinated making videos. Post the delivery of my second daughter, I used my maternity break to learn more about the world of Youtube. I knew I had a story that is worth a share and would create a long-lasting impact on my viewers. I started my own channel where I make lifestyle and motherhood related videos.

The journey as an influencer also introduced me to the concept of thrift stores, which is one way to lead a sustainable life. I remember, after my elder daughter’s annaprasana, I decided to display the clothes she was wearing for sale. I created an Instagram page wherein I posted ten other clothes along with hers. I was shocked to see the kind of response. 90 percent of the clothes were sold out. Looking at the response, I had planned to create a platform for a thrift seller and a buyer directly. I wanted my brand “Closet Punarvi ” to act as a bridge between these two. To my surprise, in a short period of time, the page got about 25k followers along with the brand selling 1000 clothes in a span of four months. Bearing the response in mind, I branched out Closet Punarvi by starting it in Hyderabad as well.
Honestly, I still pinch myself sometimes. I am really happy that people are embracing the idea of wearing pre-loved clothes. There is a long way to go with my goals but I am happy with how far I have come so far.”
