“My parents always loved music. Thanks to their good taste, I grew up listening to great Indian music . I was born in the early ’90s, so I listened to a lot of AR Rahman’s songs. Around the time when I had finished my engineering, I heard news about Rahman sir opening a music school. So I told my parents I have a job interview in Chennai and went to the city to try for admissions. Luckily, I got through and I did a piano course there.

During one of my classes, I spotted Rahman sir in the college. He walked like any other man and smiled at people around in the corridor. For most of my childhood, I saw him as a legend and suddenly, to see him around me felt surreal. That’s a moment I will never forget. The whole course was a great experience for me. Throughout, my parents didn’t disturb me. Probably because I wasn’t great academically, and also because they knew I was serious about making a career in the music industry. In the last couple of years, I’ve worked with Telugu directors too – support and encouragement was always there at home. However, I look beyond making music only for cinema. I enjoy collaborating with filmmakers, but music is my priority. I want to make studio albums. I want to see audience listen to music not because of cinema alone. It’s going to be a long journey, one song at a time.”
