“After spending more than two months at home due to the ongoing Pandemic and the lock-down, I thought to breathe some fresh air and what better option do I have for a quick getaway outdoor, away from the crowds. My father and I picked a bright sunny day to visit the Kondapochamma Reservoir. It’s just 50 km from my home and ever since its inauguration last year, this place has become a quick weekend getaway for many of the fellow Hyderabadis.
I am a small business owner and yes, like everyone in the world, I suffered major losses since the pandemic stuck in our country. These days, as I walk back home in the evenings after closing my shop, the silence because of the curfew reminds me of what life in my village was like.
Throughout my childhood, I certainly cherished the sounds of nature with birds chirping and the waves of water with a cool breeze in the evenings. Although the Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented situation, for me, it’s all tied to a slower pace of life, more in tune with nature. Citizens who are residing in the cities certainly miss nature to a great extent and so much of human life seems to be in isolation.
Today, with the global crisis, we cannot help but notice that the pandemic has indeed brought the Humanity aspect to its knees. The most important thing that matters now is to help each other out during the crisis as most of the people lost their livelihood because of the impact of the deadly virus.
We as humans should rethink our choices, our priorities in life and most importantly, our role to preserve the environment and natural resources. We must spend more time and effort of greater importance, like how connected nature is and how we must be responsible to our planet and also for each other.
