“I couldn’t study beyond class 12. Belonging to a farmer’s family in Vikarabad District, I was always inclined towards nature and farming. So whenever I got free time, I would help my father in the fields. However, things turned out to be worse due to scanty rainfall for two consecutive years. That made me discontinue my higher education, and at the age of 18, I moved to Hyderabad from my hometown to support my family.
One of my friends suggested trying my luck in the driving sector and that’s when I joined as a private driver to support my family. For over six years, I worked in different sectors as a car driver travelling across many places in the country.
Gradually, things started to get better and I even saved up some amount to purchase my own vehicle to venture into cab service in the city. I was all set to take up the next big step in life but all of a sudden, the Covid pandemic hit the country in March last year and when the lockdown was announced, I started to find myself struggling to make ends meet. The worst part was I lost my previous job as a car driver during the lockdown phase. It was a huge blow for me personally and all my dreams to start a new life ended. That’s when I decided to join Swiggy as a food delivery person.
Even though this job appears to be less stressful, it has its challenges right from ensuring spill-proof delivery to reaching on time to the customers amidst heavy traffic. I know it takes time to achieve my goals in life but until then I will continue to stay positive and focus on my work, no matter how small or big it is.”
