“My name is Faridah Lakhani. From a very young age, my parents had highlighted the importance of religion and family values in our lives. It is thanks to them that I believe we are morally obliged to help society and continue to do better and grow in our lives. I have ultimately based my life around this ethos and currently work at the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad as a Special education needs (SEN) teacher. I have been a part of the network for a little over 10 years now and am very proud of the work we have done. The Academies vision aligns with my values of pluralism and improving the quality of life.
The outlook and educational perspectives of the Aga Khan Academies are based on the vision of His Highness the Aga Khan. His vision looks to the education of the highest quality that can prepare young people to lead and enact positive change in the world they inhabit.
I also enjoy travelling and exploring new cultures and cuisines. As important as working out is, I believe, in order to truly be healthy, you have to keep your mind active. My favourite way to do this is by travelling around the globe with my husband and two sons. We all gain new perspectives, see new cultures, and my personal favourite, we get to try new cuisine. I hope to impart my core values to my family as well.
Learning and growing is a continuous process and should never stop. I encourage others to never stop learning.
