“Books are essential part of our lives and without them, we would probably be very different people. My husband is a retired AG officer and I, a retired Telugu teacher. We usually spend most of our retirement time in reading and spirituality.

Still, when our relatives ask why we love books, I can’t always find the right words to express. I just want to convey to them that it’s a way of life for us.

We have been coming to Hyderabad National Book Fair for many years now. We are quite happy with the arrangements and bookstalls over here. Our book collections at home are more than our financial savings (laughs).
Our favourite authors are Adavi Vapiraju, Viswanatha Satyanarayana, Buchi Babu, Sripada Subrahmanya Sastry, Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani, among many others.

Back in those days, reading habits used to come naturally in our families. However, children, today read less frequently than any previous generation. Of course, they do have tech and digital sources to hear and watch the stories of life but it’s sad to learn about the declining figures of book reading amongst the youngsters.”
