“80 years. It could be my age. I came to this city when I was 13 to find the right direction in my life. I started my career as a salesboy in a clothes store. Later, with an intention to do a business of my own, I started selling socks on the streets of Old city. It’s been more than 60 years now.
When I was 23, I met the most beautiful and kind-hearted woman in my life, whom I chose to be my wife. She was the one who showed me the path, and it wasn’t an easy ride for both of us. In our journey, we have had our share of highs and lows. There were times when we had to restart everything from the scratch due to certain medical expenses in the family, but we never lost faith in life.
Like the city, I have seen my two kids growing up as adults. Even though they both got married and settled in their lives, I strongly believed that I should continue working to keep myself occupied and not depend on others. So I am here, doing what I know the best, selling socks and I will continue to work as long as my body supports.”
