“My father must’ve seen me growing through different stages of life but I haven’t seen him change at all! He is still the ever cheerful and a jovial person just as he was when I was a kid. Dad is very busy at the office usually, yet he has a part of his mind constantly working at home and he manages both of them with perfection and ease. Every evening, we meet at the dining table for a long dinner where we discuss everything.
I was very active as a kid, I never kept calm. I was very much attached to the environment since childhood and was also an active member of an eco club at school which even dad was aware of. I still remember this one instance where one of our colony residents uprooted a tree when I was around 10 years old. I was disappointed with it and not knowing what to do, I came home and complained to mom and I couldn’t stay calm. After my father came back home, he said, why didn’t you just go to uncle and tell him that what he had done is wrong before complaining to someone else. I had asked my dad to come along and he agreed. That person was my dad’s close friend too. I questioned him about his activity and him to plant 5 more plants and take care of them as a substitute to this to which he agreed. Later he planted 5 trees and also showed me the pictures. This is just one small instance.
Later in 2013, I started an NGO for Environmental Protection which works for Habitat restoration, Tree conservation and climate action. I was still a 15yr old then. Usually, parents tend to resist such decisions but my dad never said no. My mom and dad gave me some money for the expenses of our first big event and they were my first supporters, indeed.
There are a few things I miss doing with my dad, such as watching the wrestling matches at home, the long drives on his RX 100, and cycle rides near mini tank bund.
Nevertheless, his guidance and values for the well-being of society will never change as that is what makes him MY DAD – The director and the producer of my life.”
