“In today’s world, where the connect with the village is fast fading, children have little idea of how crops are sown, how they’re harvested and how they’re brought to the market. After all, all it takes is a trip to the grocery store or supermarket to get what you need, so why bother?
But that’s not the case with us. Even though I was able to study in a good school, my parents were very particular about me learning to farm right from a young age.
After my intermediate education, I did join a Degree course, however, due to certain family circumstances, I had to discontinue my education. That’s when I returned to my hometown and turned into a farmer, full-time. We cultivate different vegetables and seasonal fruits based on the climate and seasons. Today I am glad to be able to provide work for five others who work on a daily wage basis.
There’s a general misconception that agriculture isn’t a profitable career. But I believe it can be a good career option if one could dedicate their time and scientifically implement the farming methods. There are proven technologies available now. Research work on the crop, its production, inputs and most importantly its market value, all these factors play a crucial role in modern-day farming.”
