Team HoH: Could you tell us what motivated you to work on your innovation – Alpha Monitor?
Hemesh: Seeing my grandmother suffer from a mental disorder known as Alzheimer’s, I wanted to do something to help her.
She used to wander from place to place at abnormal timings i.e getting up from bed and used to walk away at Midnight or Early Morning without even the notice of the caregiver. My Grandmother sometimes even used to wander outside of the home and got lost. This caused a lot of problems for her.
More than 30 million people suffer from Alzheimer’s every year. Patients suffering from this disease don’t have control over their bodies and mental conditions.
To help people suffering from Alzheimer’s, I researched a lot and finally built a monitoring wristband that monitors her health conditions and body movements.
I basically built a smart wristband that monitors the health conditions of Alzheimer’s Patients. It monitors the Health Status of the patient such as Wandering, Pulse, and BP. If the patient gets out of bed and starts wandering or, if the patient has any abnormal Health Conditions, an alert is automatically sent to the caregiver and the doctor.
An App displays the Health status of the patient. The Health status is automatically sent to the doctor as Daily Reports. A camera also monitors the patient and Detects any falls on the ground. There is also a Smart Pillbox for the right pills.
Team HoH: What was your feeling after receiving the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar in the year 2021?
Hemesh: I am extremely happy and honoured to receive this award. Although I received many awards earlier, this is very special to me as the Government has recognised my skills and I think this award will boost my future projects and innovations.
Team HoH: Were you passionate about innovations and web development programs right from your childhood days?
Hemesh: I started off learning about electronics from the internet – mainly YouTube. I first used to make small robots and cars and then started recognizing problems in our daily life. So I started to make innovations that would help the country.
Team HoH Could you tell us about the ones who supported you in your journey so far?
Hemesh: The Telangana State Innovation has been a huge support to me. They recognized my Innovation back in 2019! My parents obviously supported me whenever I build projects and my teachers at my school’s Atal Tinkering Lab are always supportive.
Team HoH: Could you tell us about your future projects? What is your message to the youngsters?
Hemesh: I am currently working on a project called CreatoWise.com, which is a platform for YouTubers and influencers to create viral content. We use AI to generate viral video titles and ideas!
My message – As a student, even though it is very difficult to have time, you need to try and make the most out of it. You should take up something that you are passionate about and try to create something that can help others.
I recommend everyone to use the internet as a free place to learn. Recognise the power of the internet and act upon it! The Internet is a great place to meet new people and learn so many topics, your curiosity is only the limit!”
