“We have a history of over 100 years in tabla making and repairs. Our shop name is Akbar Miya & Bros. It’s located exactly opposite the Afzal gunj bus stand.

People often ask why we haven’t moved to a larger outlet. But for us, it’s the quality of work that matters more than the fancier space.

Precise calibration and calculation go into the making of our tablas.

Customers across India visit our shop. I am not sure if this work will appeal to the younger generations but we will continue to do this as long as god gives us strength. We are willing to train more young people in this field.

As time goes by, I just hope that the essence of music is not lost with the electronic instruments available in the market as I believe nothing can replace the traditional handmade instrument’s sound and quality.”
