Mrs. Rukma Pothaganti of Bangariguda village in Adilabad district said that there was good demand for ranjans a few years ago. However, ever since the COVID 19 pandemic, and the availability of other alternatives, the demand for the traditional Ranjans have come down to zero and their livelihood has been impacted the most.
The process of making these pots starts in the month of January and ends by the second week of April. They mix up Red and black soil, horse’s waste and the sand obtained from the dried up ponds and make a paste out of it. Later, they burn them for the final preparation process of Ranjans.
Rukma requests the public and government officials to help their community to stay afloat.
