“My father is an ex-serviceman in the Indian Airforce apart from being an athlete. I’ve been a studious student who finished her graduation at 18, the youngest of all that too topping it with 9.5 in Computer Science and Engineering. This is possible just because of Papa, he being a retd airforce officer, and having finished his bachelor’s in Technology. He inspired me since childhood.
When the children were taught the story of prince and princess, my father always told me about wars, innovations in Science, Astrophysics, and the Airfoils system he gave me books to read by APJ Abdul Kalam sir who later became my biggest inspiration.
Right from my childhood, he taught me all the household chores and always reminded me that Beta it’s not because I am a girl he’s teaching me this but even if I would be a boy, he would teach me the same because it’s essential to know how to cook and clean when you live alone. I have always seen him do it without any hesitation. Every night that I got up for studying, my dad used to give me water and coffee and took care of me even during my periods. He always normalized talking about it and took extra care but at the same time taught me the value of discipline, love, and family values.
My father taught me how to never stop learning. The best part was he never forced me to study, he just told me to fall in love with it. If someday I would be stressed while studying, he would just say let’s go on a ride and then remind me that even if I get a zero in my exams it’s ok but more importantly it’s about how much I love studying that subject and what you are making out of the knowledge you gain.
The two main things that have been embedded by my father in my brain are
- Hardwork – he always said “More sweat in peace, less blood in the war”
- To Never Give Up in life – till date when I face hardships, I remember Papa’s words “Mushkil Waqt commando sakht”
