“When I launched the free haircut service every Tuesday, it was all about lending a hand to those in need. You know how people usually toss cash or things at causes, but not many get the daily grind of the differently-abled. Checked out this orphanage in Hyderabad, and there’s this barber exploiting blind kids, giving them random haircuts. How insensitive it can be, right? People being all insensitive, using others’ weaknesses for their own gain.
So, I told the orphanage manager, ‘I got you.’ Started offering free hair-dressing services. It all started with one spot, but soon, I got a crew of pros handling both men and women.
Every Tuesday, we hit the streets, offering haircuts for free. Social media friends and some close associates around town encouraged our cause. They’re like, ‘You’re basically donating big bucks to the orphanage by cutting hair for the kids.’ Big shoutout to everyone backing our cause, especially the crew, holding it down even during the pandemic chaos.
Now, it ain’t always rainbows and sunshine. Some welfare groups took us for a ride and not appreciating the free cuts. Heartbreaking and annoying, ya know? We don’t need a big appreciation, but don’t trash talk about the good we’re doing. Learned that no matter how purposeful your mission is, people will see it however they want. It’s about staying true to what you believe in, rolling with your purpose, no matter the noise.”
