“I have vivid memories of my childhood spent sketching Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, alongside the usual school exercises of mountains and sailboats. As I explored the realms of science in college, my sketchbooks became filled with intricate drawings of plants and anatomical structures. It was during this time that my passion for drawing truly began to take shape.
My father, an artist and poet, served as a constant source of inspiration, urging me to explore the beauty of art. He instilled in me the belief that creativity knows no bounds. What might seem mundane to others, like kitchen waste, sparked my imagination. I started creating art from eggshells and empty liquor bottles, eventually branching out into woodwork, canvas paintings, zentangle art, and various other mediums. Over time, I realized that turning my passion into a career was the only path to a fulfilling life. After all, as the saying goes, ‘Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’
To showcase my creations, I launched a website where I began sharing my artwork with the world. To my delight, my work gained significant traction, garnering attention and admiration from a growing audience. Orders started pouring in for painted diyas, invitations to exhibit at art shows rolled in, and requests for teaching and guest lectures followed suit. In 2014, I took a bold step and opened my own studio – Shruthi Sripada Creations.
While my ultimate dream is to own a large art studio that can properly showcase all my work and elevate my name as an artist, I take immense pride in how far I’ve come. My family shares in this pride, serving as pillars of support throughout my journey. I’m incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such unwavering encouragement.
Even my travel destinations are chosen based on their artistic allure; there’s something incredibly inspiring about witnessing different interpretations of art. To me, art is simply a reflection of our perceptions.
I firmly believe in the importance of self-sufficiency and self-motivation. The mental satisfaction derived from doing what you love, and excelling at it, is unparalleled.”
