Holi has always been our most awaited festival – a time of laughter, colors, and closeness. Growing up in the lanes of Begum Bazar in Hyderabad’s old city, Holi was the highlight of the year. Everyone would gather – cousins, friends, neighbors – for a day filled with colorful chaos and delicious treats like badam phirni and Puran polis.
And for the last couple of days, the energy around our community is infectious. Women in their vibrant sarees dance to the beat of drums, their faces beaming with joy. There’s a sense of unity as we all come together to celebrate this special occasion.
As the bonfire is lit on the occasion of Holikadahan, to mark the beginning of Holi, we gather around, feeling a sense of reverence for our traditions.
And as we dance and sing late into the night, I know these moments will stay with us long after the festival ends. In the end, Holi isn’t just about colors and sweets; it’s about the warmth of community and the memories we create together.
