“I’ve been passionate about pottery for over 35 years now. I started learning the craft when I was just 12 from my parents, who were also skilled in pottery. I was determined to follow in their footsteps and continue our family tradition.
After completing my 10th standard, I joined a training course at Horsley Hills in my hometown of Chittoor to hone my skills. I mastered the art of making earthenware from clay. These days, there’s a high demand for colored vases and earthen cooking vessels, especially during the festive season. People love them not just for their beauty but also because they make their food taste better.
I regularly participate in exhibitions across India, and currently, my stall is at Shilpa Ramam. My day starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. My wife is also skilled in pottery, specializing in flower pots, earthen lamps, and bottles. We source our clay from Horsley Hills, near Madanapalle in Chittoor District. I go there every three months to stock up on fresh clay.
My children are pursuing higher studies and don’t want to follow in our footsteps. I am okay with their decision as they have the complete right to choose their career paths. But I’m determined to train other young people who are interested in learning the art of pottery.
That’s my story – simple and genuine, just like my craft.”
