“I’m Amalia, a kite flyer from Indonesia, and being part of the International Kite and Sweet Festival here in Hyderabad has been such a fun experience.
The first thing I did when I got here was try Irani Chai and Hyderabadi biryani. I’d heard so much about them, and they really didn’t disappoint. The city is impressive, but what stood out the most was how friendly everyone has been.
There are kite flyers from about 20 countries at the festival, and it’s amazing to see so many different kites in the sky. I brought three of my favorites – two dragon kites with bright, fiery colors and an owl kite with bold, sharp designs. Watching them fly alongside all the others was such a memorable moment.
Back in Indonesia, kite flying is a big thing too. We have the Bali Kite Festival and It’s something I always look forward to.
Here at the Hyderabad International Kite Festival, I also got to try food from different parts of India, and it was so good. The organizers have done a great job making sure everyone feels welcome. I really hope I can come back next year.
Since it’s Sankranti, I want to wish everyone a happy festival. This trip has been so memorable, and I’m taking home so many good memories.”
