“I come from a family of farmers. My father and I are poles apart when it comes to the way we look at life. Surrounded by friends whose fathers have their own businesses, has inspired me to start one of my own. As a middle-class boy with high aspirations of creating my own recognition, I did not want to burden my family in any way. Even though I have a tag as an IT employee, I have always been inclined towards an entrepreneurial field.
Having gathered all my guts, I finally decided to dive into this line of work and ventured into three businesses, that ended up creating a rough patch, both personally and professionally. The first venture commenced in 2011. It was a milk business that was started by three of us. Well, it was not a success story. We were cheated by someone whom we trusted to be family. Because of this, misunderstandings grew and we drifted apart not only as partners but also as friends. I was also part of a business that dealt with feed for fish and prawns in 2016, which came to a pause because of demonetization along with huge financial losses. Business dealing with hostels was the third venture which was introduced in December 2019 and had come to a standstill because of the pandemic. Having said that, this field has made me realise the kind of risks one has to take in this line of work.
While trying to find various ideas for my business and also working as an IT employee in Gurgaon was when I learned about “Chowrasta Chai”. It was difficult for me to gather courage and step into the field of business once again, but I trusted my gut. I decided to have this as my last bit of hope in the field of business. Coming back to Hyderabad, I started to create my formula that could be used in the chai I provide to the public. A thorough market research went into the concept of having different flavors of chai that our Hyderabadi crowd would welcome.
Post lockdown, I realized how the public eagerly wanted to step out of their homes craving a cup of chai. That is when I decided to launch my fourth venture. This gave me a push to make sure Chowrasta Chai is transparent and hygienic in every step of its business. To my surprise, it was a huge success in the first three months of commencement itself. I realized that the public who are choosing to come to my chai stall are looking at having something unique with a bit of personal touch added to it.”
