“I’ve always been inclined towards academia because of my family background. My house has always been stacked with books everywhere and my family also motivates me to be an audacious reader. Even my passion for Psychology started from seeing my mother’s work and office! From the beginning, I’ve always been that one student that is always off to some kind of practice for events and competitions in school. You could barely find me in class at a point. Some people wondered how I could balance everything at once. My only reason for this balance is that I enjoy everything I do and also have a positive work relationship. If something stresses me out too much, I simply move on. I never take on projects that I’m not fully interested in. This also helps me stay aligned with my passion for Psychology and makes sure that I develop my skills for the same without too much dilution.
The online learning communities like StudyGram and StudyTube have been an integral part of my academic journey. From 7th grade itself, I’ve been really involved in consuming and producing content online about academics and studying. In fact, my calligraphy skills were also an endeavour of my online presence. I learnt a lot of things online such as bullet journaling, calligraphy, and art online, and also gave back to the community by teaching it to budding learners as well. This way I’ve accumulated 20,000+ likes, 1 Million+ impressions, and even my username contains “BuJo” short for bullet journal, which a lot of people still don’t know!
I am also serving as a research intern for the Center of Health Psychology in University of Hyderabad. I work as a data collection intern. My work includes administering psychometric tests on children to measure their stress levels. High school students, especially in the field of Psychology barely ever find research opportunities. This was quite stressful but I still tried my best. Thankfully, I landed this role and am extremely grateful for it. Besides academics, I have also been training in Carnatic Classical Music for over 8 years now and have also earned a First Class with Distinction certificate from Annamalai University for it! Apart from my love for singing, I’m also really interested in debate and speech. Hence, I’ve participated and won awards in over 15 Model United Nations conferences and have won several college-level debate competitions. Activism is also one of my priorities online! Having volunteered for various non-profits, I’m also a Young Warrior at UNICEF India and a trainee in the Young Champion for Refugees program at UNHCR.”
