“I am Virat Chandra. I am 8 years old, studying in Gitanjali Devshala School, Secunderabad.

My passion towards mountaineering started when my cousins shared their experiences on a video call showing their trekking in Uttarakhand. I was trained by Mr. Bharath sir from Boots and Crampoons and he took a physical validation to understand my potential.

I used to do different exercises like suryanamaskars and visit mountains like Moula ali hill and Keesara and was ready for the adventurous climbing.

It took me six days to climb the Mount Kilimanjaro- the highest mountain in South Africa with my coach. My best experience while climbing the mountain was the clouds were below the mountain and it reminded me of the cartoon Doraemon. I had a slight pain in my joints and gradually recovered through that.

I received appreciation from the Prime minister and also got recognized in the sports category for becoming the youngest to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

I balance out my classes during the day and train myself in the evenings. Apart from this my hobbies are skating, playing guitar, etc. I am proud of myself and my parents- Sharath and Madhavi Chandra feel very overwhelmed about my success. My next target is to go to Australia after the borders are open and go on with all the adventurous things that come in my way.”
