“I spent a good amount of my childhood days with my grandparents doing farming. Although I was successful on the work front having worked with a few NGOs and also as a catering supervisor with a noted Airline company, I was unhappy and felt that I was in a rat race. That’s when I decided to quit the well-paying job without any second thought in 2013. I informed my wife soon after resigning. She did not even question me, but readily accepted my decision. I moved back to my village, Paalaguttapalle, to do natural farming. I am currently part of the Zero Budget Natural Farming program where I work with community experts in cultivating natural produce.
While I do natural farming, my wife, Uma, is involved in stitching sustainable cotton bags under the brand Paalaguttapalle Bags. She helps me in her free time with the farming process and also makes other natural dyes.
Today, we are happy that we are leading a path toward sustainability in a small way. Even my children are pretty active in learning natural farming methods and we look forward to guiding them toward sustainability in all possible ways.
We also have a small home garden where we cultivate various seasonal fruits and vegetables at home. We got tired of being part of harming the natural resources, so wanted to heal, even if in a very small way.”
