“I’m K. Arun Kumar and I come from a small village named Sirigipuram in Rangareddy district. My parents, a tailor and a daily laborer, worked tirelessly to support our family. Growing up, I saw their struggles firsthand, and it taught me the value of helping others whenever I could.
As a kid, I wanted to be a dancer and even got the chance to perform at Ramoji Film City. But as I grew older, I realized my family needed me to focus on something more stable. In 2018, I joined the Telengana Police force as a constable. Through hard work and dedication, I became a Sub-Inspector at Madhapur Traffic Police Station by 2020.
While my career progressed, a family incident where we struggled to fund blood donor changed everything for me. My family once needed blood during an emergency, and we couldn’t find a donor on time. That experience stayed with me and pushed me to do something about it. I started forming WhatsApp groups to connect blood donors with those in need.
What began as a small effort has now grown into 84 groups, helping not just people in India but also in countries like the US and Saudi Arabia.
In 2020, I also started Arunism, a food distribution program that runs every week to help those who don’t have enough to eat. Balancing my job, family, and these initiatives hasn’t been easy, but I’ve never seen it as a burden. It’s something I genuinely care about.
When someone agrees to donate blood, I make sure their travel expenses are covered because I don’t want families in crisis to feel burdened. I also make it a point to visit new places every few months, donate blood there, and connect with people in their language. It’s my way of spreading a little positivity wherever I go.
If there’s one thing I’d tell the younger generation that is to not run after fame or recognition. Focus on what matters, stay true to your purpose, and let your actions speak for themselves.
I’m just an ordinary person from a small village, but I’ve seen how even small efforts can make a big difference. If I can do it, so can you.”
