“To be honest, I didn’t expect to be doing the things I am doing today. As a kid, I was epileptic and memory lapses had become a constant part of my life. I failed subjects and classes. One day, I decided to quit all my high dosage medicines and try the natural healing. It’s been 7 years since and I have been way more than good.
I have always had an affinity towards art because expressing in any kind was a beautiful concept. Although, the first job I ever did was to home tutor kids which eventually professed to me working with the British council. After that was when I took my first big one year break. I went solo travelling to different places. Oh, what a self exploration period that was for me. I learnt things about myself which I couldn’t fathom in a million years and I grew to be comfortable in my own company. I also discovered a new found passion for travel photography which I still continue, time to time. During that time is when Psaliagraphy happened. I came across an article of a Spanish lady on Facebook who practices this art. I was intrigued and contacted her where she briefed me with the basics before vanishing into thin air! That’s when I started my own experiments and research with different textured papers. The art of slicing an expression onto a single piece of paper with surgical knives was gripping. Naturally, I was hooked on it. There were times I wondered if I had chosen the right form of art for me but when people recognize it as your thing, it felt unique to me. It felt like mine. So, I kept going.
I make sure to take a break every three months to clear my head. That’s when all the chaos settles and calms down in my head and I regain my peace of mind. I believe that you should never be restless and go haywire for something to happen just because you set a timeline for yourself, more than your capabilities have faith that things will eventually fall into place if you pour-in your heart and soul into something you hope for yourself.”
