“We often corner our passions in order to win the rat race and meet the expectations of society. Sometimes, we have got to look deep into our hearts and ask ourselves what we truly want. When it comes to me, I always wanted to get into mass media and pursue films. It did take a lot of conviction to convince my parents that I wanted to study Mass Media in my graduation.
I have diverse interests. I am both a screenwriter and a short filmmaker. Both the genres cross paths. So, I chose to walk on both. After working on a few shorts, I had taken the decision to pursue the media in my bachelor’s . I am also a small time business owner continuing the family’s legacy and it has been going great so far.
I would be lying if I say I struggled all that much, thanks to my dedication and good fortune. Of course, Covid did stir up some chaos but it was not too paramount. Despite the testing times, we have been making constant efforts to improve the craft. We did an Independent film “AGENT ON DUTY” which got accolades in film festivals. Recently, we have also bagged the best short for our film Conflict at Cinevolution film festival.
It certainly requires a team effort and family’s backing and they are all extremely supportive of my decisions. That is probably one of the main reasons I’m able to sail through despite the harsh tides.
If I could give my two cents to budding filmmakers, then it would only be one thing. Don’t just start off with random ideas. Do what drives you and work on the concepts, and story. Be well equipped with what you are setting up. Be independent and take the plunge.”
