“Our life moves from city to city, tent to tent. The circus is all we’ve ever known. Right now we’re in the eastern part of Hyderabad, finishing the last stretch of this year’s journey.
The Great Bombay Circus has been around for decades, and there’s so much history in what we do. Now, things are different. The crowd is smaller, tickets don’t sell as fast, and we’re constantly fighting to keep the tent standing-literally and financially. But we can’t let that stop us.
Every morning starts early. First, we check and repair the ropes, nets, and platforms. Then it’s hours of practice for stunts-whether it’s walking the high wire, flips through flaming hoops, or balancing acts. Mistakes are not an option because even a small slip can lead to serious injuries.
When the setup is done, we prepare for the show-costumes, lights, music, and stage arrangements. It’s not just about the big stunts; every act matters. From clowns who make kids laugh to acrobats defying gravity, everyone works together to entertain the public. There are times when we’re exhausted, sleep-deprived, or suffering from injuries, but once the lights come on and the audience starts cheering, we forget everything else.
Traveling is another big challenge. Packing and unpacking equipment, moving from one city to another, and setting up in new places all the time is draining. Sometimes, we barely get time to rest before the next show. This life tests you, but it also teaches you many things about discipline and coordination.
Performing in Hyderabad is always special. People here come with warmth and excitement, and their energy gives us strength to keep going. We hope more people will visit before December 15th because every audience we perform for reminds us why we do this.”
