“90 years. It could be my age. I sell seasonal fruits in the bus stands and railway stations for my survival. It is my everyday routine and I have been doing this for almost 50 years now. I am selling karvanda (wild berries) today. The specialty of these fruits is that it is available only once a year, during the summer. These are grown only in the hilly, forest areas. In late summer its berries ripen from their green hard state into the tangy-sweet fruit.
Growing up in the interior forest lands, I am used to walking deep into the jungles to pick the best naturally grown fruits and vegetables. We sell these fruits and veggies for our survival.
I may be growing old in life but I am determined to look after myself in life. As long as there’s some energy left in my body, I will continue to work hard and live the rest of my life, wholeheartedly, without any regrets.”
