“Once, in the same Secunderabad area where we begged at the signals for our survival, I now serve as a Traffic Assistant. I’m Sravani, from Mahabubabad, Telangana. Growing up as a Transwoman, life was tough. Finding work was near impossible, and we were often forced to beg on the roads.
Things changed when the Telangana Government launched an initiative to hire Transwoman as Traffic Assistants. It was the first of its kind in India. After clearing all the tests, 39 of us were selected and trained in Traffic management, and emergency handling.

Today, I manage traffic, ensure road safety, guide vehicles during peak hours, and help enforce traffic rules. I’m grateful for the opportunity to prove that transwomen, like all women, can contribute to society. This isn’t just about traffic control—it’s about breaking barriers and showing what we’re capable of.
Jai Hind!”
