“Aashutosh and I grew up in South India. Like most people around us, we followed what was expected: school, college, job, marriage. But for a long time, we didn’t know what we truly loved doing.
That changed when we discovered content creation. In 2021, we started making videos just for fun. Slowly, we gained a following, and today we have over 187,000 people supporting our work. It felt good to create something together. After our own wedding, we realised how difficult it was to relive those moments. Photos and videos were all over the place. We kept thinking, what if there was a simpler way to go back and feel those memories?
That is how @thereelmaker.bts started.
We officially launched in July 2023 with a mission to help couples relive their wedding moments in a more personal, emotional, and immediate way. At the time, no one in South India was doing this. It feels so real to see something we started become a trend. What we do is make short, behind-the-scenes wedding reels. Not the usual staged stuff, but the real moments. A hug from a parent. Friends laughing. Small exchanges in the middle of the chaos. These reels aren’t just for posting online. They’re a way to remember how it all felt.
Our first client came to us in December 2023. The bride said, “I want you both to make content for my wedding.” That gave us the push we needed. The real breakthrough came when we posted our first wedding reel. It went viral. Suddenly, we were flooded with inquiries and got fully booked within weeks. We now have weddings lined up till February 2026, and we’re so thankful for that trust.
The one face that inspires us every day is our baby. Each time we return home, he runs to us with a big smile and cuddles us tight.
We take two weddings at a time, one each, so we can give our full attention. When we started, I was five months pregnant. I worked till my ninth, and even took calls after delivery.
This is not just work. It’s our journey — something we built with love, and something we truly care about.”
