“I learned the art of stone sculpting from my father. Back in those days, it was a revered craft to be able to cut stones and create beautiful sculptures. Today, I continue that legacy by sculpting not only Buddha statues but a variety of other figures as well, each one telling its own story.
For over 25 years, I’ve been dedicated to this work. Each stone sculpture is made with patience and care. It connects me to my father and the generations of artisans who came before us. My workshop is full of statues related to mythological figures, and freedom fighters.
People often ask why I keep doing this, and my answer is simple: it’s my passion. Each stroke of my chisel is important to me, and I believe that my work has a special meaning. These sculptures are not just stone; they are meant to inspire and bring peace to those who see them.
However, my children have chosen to pursue different paths, and I support their decisions. This craft will end with me, and I’m okay with that. My hope is that the statues I make will continue to spread peace and tell our stories long after I’m gone.”
