“I want to bring a change and revoltionalise the impact industry, that has long remained archaic & complex. I want to build an impact-focused company with a sole-purpose of bringing more innovation into the impact industry, creating a digital social impact ecosystem.
I am the founder at YuGenie and Illuminated DAO- a decentralized autonomous organization. YuGenie is the world’s 1st social network for social impact. An action-led network built for Millennials and Gen-Z. The goal is to create a global network of impact creators and mobilize people, events, social organizations that are driving impact online and on-ground, from around the world and first, we are launching on android applications.
In simpler terms, build more socially-aware citizens and make it easier to get involved in conversions around critical issues.
The goal with Illuminated DAO, our web3 platform, is to reach those unbanked areas and vulnerable geographies that weren’t inaccessible before. Most of the impact is made in cities; but what about the weaker economies with no sophisticated banking systems? We are leveraging the DLT technology to directly reach those underserved communities, and creating more transparency and accountability in this space.
My motivation towards this came naturally. In college, I believed that students are the gatekeepers of democracy and it felt too important for us to not be paying attention to what’s happening in the country. Secondly, we were very socially active and wanted to pursue a career in impact and work with innovative social enterprises but we didn’t have a platform to discover or reach out to such organizations and we do not have one now. So, I want to bridge the gap between millennials, gen-z and social organizations that are eager to build solutions to the most pressing issues around the world and are already creating impact.
During Covid, I did a live charity stream to raise funds and within 1hour we raised 5lakhs and donated it to the PM care’s fund.
I started ideating about the whole thing in college and after graduating from CBIT, I got more industry experience by breifly working at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and then in Shanghai at a social enterprise. After this, I came back and deeply researched the industry for 2 more years to make sure that YuGenie would bring immense value to its users.
My company is completely bootstrapped. I sold my crypto [Ethereum] to partially seed my application when I started this back in early 2020.
I associated with WE HUB in 2020 and they were the first believers and supporters of my idea. I want more women in tech. I’m one of the few women working in the deeptech industry. I see this trend continue in some of the most elite accelerators around the world that I’m a part of. I desperately want this ratio to change.
My motivation behind building YuGenie and Illuminated is not only to bring out innovation but to create sustainable impact.”
