“I have been running a plant Nursery for a few years now, selling different kinds of plants. The best-sellers are rose, chamanthi, hibiscus, and money plants, among several others. They come all way from Bangalore and Pune. Before this, I was into the bricks business and the main reason I shifted to a nursery was because of my love for greenery and the environment.

Each plant costs Rs. 40 and to earn at least a 10% of profit, we increase the cost rate and also to meet all the travel expenses, we need to do the essentials. I do not get a daily profit and sale  There will be some wastage too as the plants get dried out soon.

My nursery is located on the roadside near Loyola College and I start at morning 9 am till night 8 pm. The first thing I do is set all my plants and water them, have a safe shelter as these plants need to be protected with the right environment. During the lockdown, I managed to set up within the time limit and I did what I can do during those times.

So far, my business is good and it is enough to satisfy my family and their needs. I belong to the East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh and I certainly do miss my family sometimes as they live far away from me. But what I do is for their future and wellbeing, so it’s alright.”
