“Durga Puja remains the most significant festival for us Bengalis and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by people across India.
Today, we celebrate the final day of Navratri, a day of immense significance for us. Durga Puja represents the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, symbolizing the eternal triumph of good over evil.
In the early 1900s, a small group of Bengalis made Hyderabad their home, seeking opportunities for work. Our family was among the pioneers who have now been part of this vibrant community for several decades, leading to the establishment of the Hyderabad Kalibari Bengali Samity.
Every year, these nine days of the festival occupy a special place in our hearts, culminating with the visarjan ceremony on the tenth day. The sight of people flocking to the pandals in large numbers is always heartening and serves as motivation for organizers like us to continually enhance our arrangements.”
