“Radios were more than devices; they were our family’s passion. After school, my brother and I eagerly joined our father, immersing ourselves in repairing sets from Murphy, Phillips, Sony, Marconi, and more. Our clientele included Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of the Princely state of Hyderabad, adding a royal touch. Lifafa (envelopes) exchanged hands with gratitude.
Our journey began in Dabeerpura, and in 1948, my father, Late. Shaik Mahboob, laid the foundation at Chatta Bazar. Starting from PVC pipes, he transitioned to radio sales and repairs in the late 1920s.
The Golden era of Radio flourished, but technological tides changed. Smartphones ushered in a new era, sidelining analog sets. Yet, no regrets linger. Today, clients from all corners seek repairs or vintage radios, keeping the spirit alive.
While my children tread different paths, uninterested in antique radios, my love for Radio persists. Until my last breath, I’ll continue repairing, ensuring the legacy resonates through time.”
