With temperatures hitting 43°C, the South Central Railway’s Bharat Scouts and Guides have been stepping in to help the public deal with the harsh summer. At stations like Kazipet, Kacheguda, Guntur, Secunderabad, Vijayawada, and several others, volunteers have set up hydration stalls, offering water and buttermilk to travellers and those passing by.

“We saw people exhausted in the heat, especially those who had long journeys ahead or were waiting outside. A lot of people just don’t have access to clean drinking water when they’re on the move. Even a glass of cold water makes a difference,” said one of the student volunteers.

This effort is part of South Central Railway’s summer outreach, with Scouts and Guides volunteering across divisions to keep people hydrated and safe in the extreme heat.
