“Ever since the lockdown was announced, I’ve been at home, spending time with my little daughter. In the last seven years, it’s the first time I’m getting to spend so much time with my family. Most times, we are busy with our regular schedules. Both my wife and I are working, so we try to balance our time with our child. However, in the last 15 days, we’re all sitting together for meals and playing fun games. My daughter enjoys going to school and she’s already missing her friends. In fact, she knows everything about Coronavirus- from washing hands regularly to maintaining social distancing. However from a child’s perspective, you need to understand that kids have too many questions and you don’t want to bombard them with answers about a virus that has spread panic and fear.
But it’s fun – watching her cycle, helping her with homework and eating together!
We had planned a vacation, which is now cancelled. So to make it up to her, I think of new games that can be played at home. I must confess that I’m enjoying this time at home. I don’t check my phone for a few hours straight – no negative messages about viruses or the world. I have also made a schedule for 30-minute exercises. We try going out for groceries only once a week and maintain social distancing. Each one of us needs to remember that all we’ve got to do now is stay home – that’s all. Play indoor games, walk on your terrace, try gardening or anything else, but at home.”
