“My parents passed away at an early age, which left me devastated. With no other choice, I was forced to leave my hometown Wadlam and move to Hyderabad in search of a job.
Three and half years ago, I met my wife at a Ganesh Temple, where I was working as a daily wage painter. For the 23 year old me, it was love at first sight. It was only after 6 months, however, that things fell in place and we got married. Seven months into our marriage, we discovered something shocking. As usual, I had dropped my wife at her parents’ place and left for work. Not much later, my mother-in-law called to inform me that my wife fainted all of a sudden. She was rushed to a hospital, where we were told about a cancerous tumor in her brain. She was told to undergo an operation that would cost about Rs. 7 lakh in total. There was no time to waste in thought. We had to get her operated within 30 days. I managed to arrange Rs. 3 lakhs through loans from friends and with the help of Arogya Sri scheme. We managed to pay for operation somehow and it went on successfully.
The two of us had barely coped from her operation, when the doctors informed us about a second neurosurgery
operation, which is required to be done three months after the first operation. We were informed that failure to get the operation done might lead to fatal consequences.
We did not have any savings, but my wife was the only thing on my mind. I was in dire need of financial support and the clock was ticking. I did everything I could, including writing a letter to our Chief Minister, KCR sir for help. When our hope was slowly dying, I was approached by a software employee and a few NGOs who came forward to support us through the news. We managed to get her second operation done successfully.
It’s been six months now and she is recovering slowly. Doctors say that her complete recovery may take two year or more. Life has become extremely challenging for me now that she’s paralysed. I must be by her side 24*7, making it difficult for me to go for work. In these testing times, it would be great if the Government or other individuals come forward to assist and support us financially.”
