“I didn’t start out planning to dedicate my time to social welfare and rural development. Life just led me here. For the past 20 years, Khammam has been home, and somewhere along the way, it’s where I found my purpose.
It all started with a simple wish to help in some small way. At first, I focused on women’s health and education. I held onto this idea that when women are healthy and educated, their whole community benefits. As the work grew, I realized there was so much more we could do. So in 2015, My People Welfare Organisation was born.
Over time, we’ve expanded our efforts to cover things that matter like child and women empowerment, gender equality, nutrition and access to healthcare. In rural and tribal areas, we work on awareness programs for menstrual hygiene and sanitation, breaking down taboos and encouraging open conversations. We also run self-employment programs, giving sewing machines to women so they can earn an income. It’s more than just livelihood, it’s independence. We also conduct mentoring programs to the children living in the interior tribal Hamlets to encourage them to pursue quality education along with their everyday school curriculum.
But honestly, this journey isn’t just about programs or projects. It’s about standing side by side with the people who’ve welcomed us into their lives. Each time a woman gains a skill, or a child goes further in school, it feels like a small win, really. These moments keep me going.
Through volunteering and community support, I’ve learned that real change is possible when we come together. Khammam isn’t just where I live—it’s the community that’s given me a purpose, and I’m grateful to give back, one step at a time. We’re building a future here, grounded in hope and resilience.”
