“Summer is the season for brisk sales. These days we started selling different varieties of pots with different colours and shapes as per the customer’s requirements.
Earlier, people used to come to my stall regularly for buying earthen pots but nowadays, the sales have come down by more than 40 per cent because of the availability of other alternatives.
We used to sell not less than two thousand pots during the summer season. But now, because of the ongoing pandemic. However, the pandemic made our lives harder.
I have four people to feed at home, and my only source of income is this clay pot business. We ended up spending all our savings to survive the last two years of the pandemic phase and now we are struggling to make a living out of this business.
With whatever little I earned so far, I have been able to bring up my children and they are now pursuing their higher studies in the city.
I am thankful to my husband who has been supportive of my business. He’s an electrician by profession but he always ensures our well-being. I would like to continue working for a few more years and then take a break to explore other things in life.”
