“Cream rolls and pineapple pastries-they remind me of my childhood. My mother used to buy me a cream roll or a pastry as a reward when I did well in school. While I loved eating them, I was always curious about how they were made. That curiosity stuck with me over the years, even though I didn’t realize it would one day shape my journey.
I grew up in Hyderabad in an orthodox family, surrounded by my grandparents, aunts, and cousins. My father ran a small business, and my mother was a teacher. Watching my father at work always motivated me to become independent. I admired his dedication and always dreamed of building something of my own, just like him.
School life at St. Ann’s was special. It introduced me to people from different backgrounds and cultures, teaching me how to connect with others and shaping my perspective on life. But my real connection to baking began when my cousin, who was studying Hotel Management, baked a cake at home. I couldn’t stop asking him questions—How did you make it? What goes into it? He patiently answered, and I started helping him whenever I could. That’s where it all began.
After marriage, I found more time to experiment in the kitchen. Slowly, my baking journey evolved from a hobby into passion. Four years ago, with my baby just 7 months old, I made the decision to quit my full time job and take the plunge into full-time baking. It wasn’t easy in the beginning, especially balancing a new business with motherhood. But my husband stood by me, helping with everything from deliveries to motivating me during tough days.
Now, my home-baking venture focuses on creating wholesome, personalized treats. I love making cakes that are not just delicious but also made with quality ingredients. I pay close attention to customer requirements. It’s important to me that every product feels special and is made with care.
Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year. Growing up, the celebrations at St. Ann’s, with carols and decorations, made the season unforgettable. Now, as a baker, it’s one of my busiest times ever making plum cakes and other festive treats.
For me, every cake is personal. I treat each one like it’s special-because it is. Over the years, many of my customers have become like family, sticking with me from the beginning and recommending my work to others. Their trust and support mean everything to me, especially since I don’t rely on much advertising.
To anyone who’s eager to follow their passion in baking, I’d say just take the first step. You don’t need to have it all figured out right away. With focus and consistency, you’ll find your way forward and turn your dreams into something real.”
